Being Proactive During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Klizos covid-19 pandemic

At Klizo Solutions, we watched as COVID-19 infections spread from China, to Hong Kong, to Europe, than to the USA. We watched as nations were shutting down flights, and we were fortunate enough here in India that infections didn’t spread fast, and that India as a country acted swiftly; some would argue too swiftly.

Seeing COVID-19 Coming

One of our founders is from the USA, and pushed out flights, and started buying PPE equipment in the first weeks of February. This was a good move for the company during preparation. We had masks, we had boxes of hand sanitizer, we were ready for the oncoming COVID pandemic.

In the second week of March, we as a company had a large discussion as a team. We are a startup and we believe that communication is key. We try to be transparent about as much as we can and how it may affect others, including their families.

Here in India a lot of people use public transportation, and a large portion of our employees also use this method of transportation, we started planning remote working stations.

Our company uses a lot of enterprise level development tactics that allow us to work remotely, work out of the same development repos, and ensure that the code that all the developers are working is pushing to the projects in sync. This is important even when working in local environments. Today, there are tools that allow our developers to even code in the same coding page and see the other developers typing their code at the same time. Tools that allow us to work more efficiently, remotely control each other’s machines; offering support, or even doing a video chat so you can talk and feel connected.

When we shifted to remote workstations, everyone checks in every day. We have technical support to make sure our team has minimal downtime. We do weekly tests, and make sure people are flexible. We know when you work from home that may experience storm interruptions, and we allow them to make up time and work. Our focus is more project base. This has been a blessing to our company. It’s created an obstacle to test the reliance of our team, and how we can work together.

Office life during a Pandemic:

We have already started to allow some of our team back into the office. We have a no-contact thermometer, we have high end masks as well as surgical masks, and we have hand sanitizer stationed all around the office. We had our office cleaner come in and ensure the place is sanitized before anyone entered, and he is cleaning every other day, and doing a weekly deep cleaning. No one can enter our office without checking temperature, sanitizing their hands, and has to wear a mask.

The COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown ends at the end of the month, but may get pushed further. Today busses started running, and soon the trains will start to run as well. India will be buzzing and moving ahead again.

We plan on allowing teams back into the office in teams, but our company has never closed. We are currently hiring more developers, and we have been growing as a team, even through this adversarial process.

We would like to thank all our clients that stayed with us through this time, and knew that in our hearts, we are a team of problem solvers. Thank you!
